The Glenda sneed Fellowship
Inspired by the spirit of Glenda Sneed, the Glenda Sneed Graduate Fellowship for MA and PhD students in Medical Sociology at Howard University, in Washington D.C., will support future generations of students who embody Glenda’s passion for community health and improving the lives of residents in under-resourced communities.
The fellowship is awarded each fall semester to either an incoming graduate student or a continuing graduate student who shows tremendous promise and commitment to making an impact in the academic field of community health and to the actual health of residents of chronically under served communities with acute needs. Students showing exceptional intellectual promise and who are committed to service and social justice through community health should apply.
Glenda Sneed Fellows are chosen by a committee comprised of the Sociology and Criminology Department Chair, Associate Chair, Graduate Director, and Director of the Medical Sociology Program at Howard University.
Application Requirements
To be considered for a Glenda Sneed Fellowship, you must:
Be a Howard University Masters or Doctoral student in the Department of Sociology & Criminology
Masters students must be prepared to write a thesis on topic related to Medical Sociology
PhD students must declare Medical Sociology as one of their areas of concentration
PhD students must be prepared to write dissertation on Medical Sociology
